Your financial data is sensitive, and Dongip is built with that in mind. This page explains what data Dongip stores, how it’s protected, how to back it up or export it, and what rights you have over it. For the complete legal details, read the full Dongip privacy policy.

Automatic daily backups

Dongip backs up your data automatically every day. Backups are encrypted and stored in the cloud, so if you switch phones, reinstall the app, or lose your device, you can restore everything right where you left off. You don’t need to do anything to enable automatic backups — they run in the background.

Manual backup

You can trigger a backup at any time from within the app.
1

Open Settings

Tap Settings in the bottom navigation bar.
2

Go to Backup

Select Backup from the Settings menu.
3

Create a backup

Tap Back up now. Dongip creates an encrypted snapshot of your data immediately.
Create a manual backup before making large changes to your category structure or before switching devices, so you have a recent restore point.

Export your data

You can export your transaction history and reports at any time in CSV or PDF format.
1

Go to Reports

Open the Reports tab in the main navigation.
2

Select the date range

Choose the time period you want to export.
3

Export

Tap Export and choose CSV (for spreadsheets or accounting tools) or PDF (for a formatted report you can share or archive).
Your export includes your expense history, categories, and report data. You can take it to a spreadsheet, share it with an accountant, or keep it for your own records.

Bank linking: how it works and what Dongip can see

When you connect a bank account, Dongip uses Plaid to establish the connection. Plaid is a widely used, regulated financial data service.
  • Plaid handles the bank login screen. Dongip never sees or stores your bank username or password.
  • The connection is read-only. Dongip can read your transactions and balances; it cannot move money.
  • Dongip stores the transaction data Plaid provides (merchant, amount, date, account info) to power your expense tracking and reports.
If you delete your Dongip account, your Plaid-linked data is deleted from Dongip’s systems as part of that process. See Delete your Dongip account for details.

Third-party services

Dongip uses a small set of established third-party services to run the product. Each service handles only the data it needs for its specific function.
Clerk powers sign-in, sign-up, and profile management. When you log in with Google, Apple, or email, Clerk handles the authentication flow. See Clerk’s privacy policy.
Plaid manages the connection between Dongip and your bank. Plaid processes your bank credentials directly — Dongip never receives them. See Plaid’s privacy policy.
Resend delivers transactional emails from Dongip, such as your welcome email and account deletion verification codes.
PostHog collects usage analytics to help improve the product — pages visited, features used, and similar patterns. Analytics may be associated with your account if you’re signed in.

Your data is not sold

Dongip does not sell your personal or financial data to third parties, full stop.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
  • Access — request a copy of the data Dongip holds about you
  • Correction — ask Dongip to correct inaccurate data
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format (CSV export covers most of this)
  • Deletion — request that your account and all associated data be deleted
To exercise any of these rights, contact hi@dongip.app. For full details on how Dongip collects, uses, and protects your data, read the Dongip privacy policy.
