Deleting your account removes everything Dongip holds about you — your expenses, categories, bank-linked data, and backups. The process requires email verification to prevent accidental or unauthorized deletions. Before you proceed, make sure this is what you want: there is no way to recover your data after deletion is complete.Documentation Index

What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, Dongip removes:- Your account profile (name, email, username, profile picture)
- All personal and shared expenses you created
- Your categories, budgets, wallets, and recurring transaction settings
- All Plaid-linked bank data stored by Dongip (transaction history, account identifiers, balances)
- Your backups
- Friend connections and shared account memberships
Deletion from Dongip’s systems happens promptly after verification. Removal from third-party systems — such as Clerk (authentication) and Plaid (bank linking) — is governed by their respective policies. Contact hi@dongip.app if you have questions about third-party data removal.
Before you delete: export your data
If you want a record of your expenses or reports, export them first. Dongip lets you export to CSV or PDF from the Reports tab at any time before deletion. See Your data, backups, and privacy for export instructions.Considering a break instead?
If you’re stepping away from Dongip but aren’t sure you want to delete permanently, you have lighter options:- Disconnect your bank: Go to Settings → Connected accounts and remove the Plaid connection. Your existing data stays in the app; bank sync just stops.
- Stop using the app: You can leave your account inactive indefinitely. No data is deleted until you request it.
